Beijing, Part 2: Summer Palace and Giant Pandas

Summer palace and lake

The famed summer palace marble boat

The empress is said to have built this canal shopping center, back in the day.

Praying Buddhas at the Empress' temple, Chinese-style. This temple was covered by hundreds of these, in an exact mirror of the walls covered with little golden Buddhas at my local Chinese-Malaysian Buddhist Temple back in Kuala Lumpur.

Grif drawing the temple
We all needed sweat breaks during our intense touristing schedule, which exhausted us before the day was even over.

The Summer Palace

What's hiding in that head of hair? He was so proud to have me take his photo, like he'd been waiting all day for someone to ask. Good to see posers in China, where everyone is so damn industrious that they don't seem to have time to primp and pose.

Famous Giant Panda at Beijing Zoo

We were all smitten with the languid Panda which, like most overheated, neglected zoo animals in China, barely wanted to move. Boom was gaga. Click HERE to see a rare moment of the Chinese Panda in action scratching his butt on what turned out to be a butt-scratching post.

Posing for a shot.

Ken indulged the kids in baby pandas then yet another Chinese family pounced on my kids to take a photo with their kids.
